Hello,
Each species of grasshopper has its own song. This is important, as the varied species cannot breed with each other. The female needs to be aware that she is listening to a male from her own species. Compass termites of Northern Australia build tall nests that are wedge-shaped. They measure up to 3.5 m in length. Flying frogs change color in the day. They are greenish-blue in sunlight and green in the evening. At night there are black. Boas, as well as many other snakes have special heat-sensitive organs that are called pits. These pits are on their heads. They can detect the heat given by a warm-blooded animal standing close to them. Anteaters protect their long claws by walking on their knuckles. This makes them look as if they are limping. The hippopotamus's skin is protected by its own pink oily secretion known as 'Pink sweat'.

Hello,
Wind and sunshine could power most of the United States by 2030 without raising electricity prices, according to a new study from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the University of Colorado, Boulder.Even when optimizing to cut costs and limiting themselves to existing technology, scientists showed that renewables can meet energy demands and slash carbon dioxide emissions from the electricity sector by 80 percent below 1990 levels. The study, published yesterday in the journal Nature Climate Change, factors in energy demand, costs and, crucially, the role of weather.Co-author Alexander MacDonald, outgoing head of the American Meteorological Society and recently retired from NOAA's Earth System Research Laboratory, said the study sprang from discussions he had at the 2009 U.N. climate change summit in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Hello,
I grew up with horses. Somewhere there's a picture of me as a toddler on my Uncle Jay's big black horse Ace. I'm gripping the saddle horn, my legs barely halfway down the jockey flaps, grinning. As I grew, I measured my height not in doorways, but by the length of my stirrups.God, I loved to ride. Lots of little girls go through a horse phase but mine was all consuming and everlasting. It helped that I grew up in horse country and had a way with animals. From a young age, I understood horses and they understood me. I also had some serious guts for riding the wild ones.I always loved difficult horses: Oreo an ornry Shetland, Sam the fractious ex racehorse, Sugarfoot the hotheaded barrel racer, Lucy, also a neurotic thoroughbred, Saturday the slightly wicked driving pony and abruptly last, Dakota.
